Who we are and how to contact us
HBCU DIGITAL NETWORK, LLC operates HBCU DIGITAL and is the App Store seller. Contact contact@hbcudigital.com for support and privacy questions.
This policy describes information used in the HBCU DIGITAL app.
Information and how the app uses it
News, images and search
The app requests public stories and media from HBCU Digital’s WordPress content service at hbcu-wp.com. Text entered into Culture search is sent to that service to return matching stories. Remote images load from the hosts supplied with the content.
Video and sports
The app uses YouTube API Services to request public video listings for the HBCU Digital channel. The public-video listing flow does not use a personal Google sign-in. Opening a video can take you to YouTube in your browser.
Sports requests retrieve games and school information from HBCU Digital’s Sports API, hosted on Heroku in the United States. Some sport and standings requests use HBCUDigital.com services.
Local content and reminders
The app keeps content and check times in memory. Saved game reminders are stored on your device, and the app provides a way to delete reminder entries. Deleting a local reminder removes it from the app’s stored reminder list; it does not establish deletion of provider logs or backups.
The verified reminder storage and deletion flow is local. That finding does not establish whether every installed SDK or service transmits other device information.
Policy agreement record
The App Store version records the approved policy revision on your device after you affirmatively agree. A changed revision requires agreement again. This record is stored locally; the consent implementation adds no server endpoint or telemetry.
Public browsing and support email
HBCU DIGITAL does not provide individual app accounts or profiles. If you email support, your email address and any details you choose to include are part of that message.
Third-party services and external links
Requests reach the content, image, video and hosting services involved in delivering the app. Hosting infrastructure may process request URLs and query parameters, IP-related information, request identifiers, response status and timing to deliver the service.
- YouTube / Google: YouTube API Services supply video listings. Use of YouTube features is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service. See the Google Privacy Policy for Google’s practices.
- HBCU Digital content and image services: news, searches and media are requested from hbcu-wp.com and the image hosts referenced by the returned content.
- HBCU Digital Sports and website services: game, school and other sports content is requested from HBCU Digital services, including the Heroku-hosted Sports API.
- External video and streaming destinations: a link may open a separate website or app. That destination’s own terms and privacy practices apply to your use there.
These services receive the requests needed to deliver their content or handle an email you choose to send. The complete fields they retain, who can access those records, any onward disclosure, and provider-controlled retention or backup practices have not been independently verified for every service. This policy does not claim that no information is collected or shared.
Expo components have installation-identifier capability. Whether those identifiers or other SDK diagnostics are transmitted off-device, their recipients and retention, and any linkage or tracking have not been conclusively established. No blanket claim of zero device-data transmission or no tracking is made.
Retention and access
Local reminders and the policy-agreement revision are stored on your device. You can delete reminder entries through the app, and a later policy agreement replaces the stored revision.
For search requests, server/provider logs, support messages and backups, a uniform retention period is not established by the verified information available to us. Provider-controlled records are subject to the practices of the service involved. Exact retention periods and access rules have not been verified for every provider. We do not promise a fixed retention deadline or immediate removal from all logs or backups.
Privacy questions and deletion requests
For a privacy question or request, email contact@hbcudigital.com.
To request deletion, describe the information or interaction involved, such as a support email or search request, so the relevant records can be identified. Do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary sensitive information.
There are no individual app accounts or profiles to close. A request sent to our monitored email address does not itself erase records held by a third-party provider. The ability to identify or delete particular records, and the treatment of logs and backups, depend on the records and provider involved. Provider-wide deletion coverage and schedules have not been verified; this policy does not promise a fixed response or deletion deadline.
Deleting a reminder on your device does not verify deletion of information held elsewhere.
Audience and children’s information
HBCU DIGITAL is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed to children. If you have a privacy concern involving a child’s information, contact contact@hbcudigital.com. This statement does not claim that third-party services collect no information from children.
